Fullmetal Pianist | Demon Slayer – “Gurenge” (OP/Opening), In the Style of the OST @fullmetalpianist | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 6 hours ago
What if Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, when composing the Soundtrack to Demon Slayer, was told to write a rendition of the first opening, Gurenge? That’s the idea behind todays orchestration in this episode of “In the Style of the OST”.

Demon Slayer is just an amazingly fun anime to watch. It has incredible animation by one of my favorite action animation studios Ufotable and a story that’s classic yet still feels very new. So, I thought for this Halloween season (and actually coincidentally, because the new movie is now playing in Japanese theaters) it would be fun to make an orchestral cover of the shows first OP.
I had a blast arranging this cover of Gurenge. Gurenge is genuinely an amazing song. I always love a good LiSA song! One big thing I did with my arrangement is keep the tempo the same as in the original. Most of the time with my covers, I slow down the song to make it feel more epic. But recently I’ve been re-watching the first season of Attack on Titan and was inspired by Sawano’s really fast soundtracks.
