It's another Genesis cover of a game from different hardware! This time you'll get my rendition of Aerith's Theme from Final Fantasy VII running on the Genesis' sound hardware. I don't have a flash cart, but I've tested it on multiple emulators and it sounds correct. If someone with a flash cart is interested in trying it on real hardware, get in touch with me and let me know!

Again, I created this using Deflemask by listening to the original song and trying to figure it out by ear, so there are bound to be a few notes that are off. I purposely added a few lows that were not in the original to try and take advantage of the Genesis' prowess in that area.

This one was a lot tougher to recreate because the Genesis' FM synth doesn't reproduce realistic sounding strings or brass very well. I cuztomized all of the instruments and I had to move some things to the PSG for a few sections to replace a certain instrument. See if you can guess which one and where, let me know in the comments and you can win... absolutely nothing!

Also the PlayStation has 15 sound channels that can play simultaneously (at least in this game) so it was really tough to cut it down to size for the Genesis, which has 6 FM channels and 3 PSG tone channels (the fourth PSG channel is noise only and I didn't use it for this song). Some compromises had to be made so it wasn't possible to craft a 1:1 rendition of this song on Genesis hardware. I did the best I could and hopefully captured its spirit and how it could have sounded on the Genesis.

And yes I know it's 'Aeris' in my region of the world, but I'm going with the original title.
