Defense attorney Kevin Reddington challenged prosecution psychologist Dr. Kirk Heilbrun during cross-examination Tuesday, questioning whether his assessment was limited by interviewing Lindsay Clancy three years after the deaths of her children.
The two also disagreed over why Clancy was not admitted to a Rhode Island postpartum treatment program, with the defense arguing she was considered overmedicated and Heilbrun saying it was unclear whether her struggles were related to postpartum issues.
Clancy, 36, is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan at the family's Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023. She has admitted to the killings, but her attorney said she should not be held criminally responsible because she was overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors say Clancy planned the murders.
