Scripps Oceanography's DEEP Connections (Developing Engagement through Existing Pipeline Connections) lecture series explores the many intersections of diversity and science by highlighting the scientific endeavors of traditionally underrepresented and marginalized scholars who are also advocates, actively engaged in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the fields of earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences.
During the inaugural lecture on Jan. 26, 2021, three panelists joined us for an exciting and informative discussion about their work and EDI-related efforts. Featured speakers are Dawn Wright, Chief Scientist at Esri and Member of the Scripps Director's Council; Billy M. Williams, Senior Vice President, Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion at AGU; and Brandon Jones, NSF Program Director for Education and broadening participation in Geosciences. Scripps Director Margaret Leinen delivered welcoming remarks and the event was moderated by Keiara Auzenne, Scripps Director of Diversity Initiatives. #Diversity #EDI #Geosciences
