As you reach the top of the Atlantic DK Hat the motifs can get in the way of the decrease positions, but if you are cunning and use a left-slanting decrease where you might of used a right-slanting decrease (or vv) you can keep the motif intact and still have the necessary decrease. This method can be used in textured designs too (e.g. hiding a decrease behind a cable).
