Deconstructing: Purity and Modesty
Your level of sexual purity does not save you. Your level of sexual purity does not determine your worth or value. This is true for me, and it is true for you. Please hear this next thing I am about to say-Jesus died on a cross and rose from the dead in part to demonstrate how much we are worth and to atone for our sins, even the sexual ones.
Artist Matthew West released a song in June called Modest Is Hottest. Little did West know the backlash that he would get, and rightfully so. While it was meant to poke a little fun at his own overly conservative parenting style, it overlooked some real issues in the Christianity Purity Culture.
