Welcome to this training video for early morning seminary teachers! In this session, we dive deeply into the four fundamental stages teachers go through to prepare what they will teach.

Key Concepts Covered in This Training:
Stage 1: Understand the Context and Content. Learn how to immerse yourself in the scripture block through reading, studying, pondering, and praying. We discuss practical study tips, like noting natural breaks in the text to divide the block into smaller, manageable building blocks.

Stage 2: Identify Doctrines and Principles. Discover the power of carefully identifying gospel truths and writing them out in clear, succinct statements. Doing this crystallizes the meaning in your own mind and helps guide your students toward more focused application.

Stage 3: Decide What is Most Important. Because there is almost always more material than you can discuss in a single class, you must decide which principles to prioritize. We explore how to filter these truths by continually seeking the promptings of the Holy Ghost, looking for the inspired author's intent to testify of Jesus Christ, and focusing on the specific capabilities and needs of your students. We also highlight President Henry B. Eyring's powerful counsel to focus on "converting principles" that lead to eternal life, rather than just teaching anything that happens to be true.

Stage 4: Decide the Level of Emphasis. Find out how to allocate your instructional time. Give the most time and emphasis to the segments that contain your main doctrines so students can understand, feel, and apply them. We also discuss why you should plan to at least summarize the other segments rather than skipping them entirely.

A Crucial Reminder: As you go through these stages, do not spend so much time deciding what to teach that you run out of time to thoughtfully prepare how you will teach it!

Watch now to learn how to effectively organize your study time and select the most powerful, converting truths for your students!
