This September, Deborah Cheetham Fraillon’s ‘Eumeralla: A War Requiem for Peace’ will have its Sydney premiere at the Sydney Opera House. The large-scale work is sung entirely in Gunditjmara language, featuring 150 singers and over 70 musicians from the Orchestra.
This powerful work tells the little-known story of the Eumeralla wars of resistance in the 19th century. In this video, Cheetham Fraillon explores the power of music to tell stories, and explains how her work is a vehicle to help all Australians build a shared future together.
