Catastrophic flash flooding has left dozens dead and hundreds missing after an earthquake near the Nepal-China border triggered a massive landslide. The collapse blocked a river, sending powerful floodwaters rushing downstream into villages north of Kathmandu.

Helicopters were deployed to rescue people stranded on rooftops as vehicles and homes were swept away. Most of the deaths and missing have been reported in Nepal, with additional casualties and disappearances reported in Tibet.
