DDR FESTIVAL. This mix is... weird. It's a huge collage of fan-favorite classics and a bunch of new remixes and crossovers that don't really feel like DDR songs to me. It just seems like a filler game between EXTREME and SuperNOVA (although I'm not sure Konami had SuperNOVA in mind when this came out).
If I could describe this course in one word, it would be: technical. Nearly every song in this course has tricky patterns, several bursts of notes, or jump streams. Mad Blast, Insertion, Electro Tuned, and Gradiusic Cyber have some of the hardest patterns to time due to intricate polyrhythms or BPM changes. Then you have songs like Dive, Broken My Heart, and Sakura which have loads of jumps and would definitely tire people out on pad. The cherry on top is Outer Limits, a challenging but very satisfying boss song that has a handful of double steps to trip people up.
Despite this course feeling similar to Ultimate 12 in MAX2 US CS, this one is way more fun. Not only are most of the songs bangers, but I believe the Marvelous timing window makes me less susceptible to Greats. What still shocks me is that I only missed one note in this entire course, which is a first in this series. Will I ever go for the FC? Maybe someday, and I might get 10,000 points in the meantime. :P

Welcome to a new series on the channel! Ive gotten into DDR recently (recently being a year ago) and wanted to try out the hardest courses Konami has to offer! Ill be going through all the hardest Oni/Nonstop courses of all the PS2 console releases for both the US and Japanese games. There dont seem to be a ton of people doing these on YouTube, so I thought Id showcase them myself! Ill be doing them in chronological order, starting with MAX US (MAX JP doesnt have courses).
HARD CORE is the longest course in all of DDR, with 21 songs. MAX US definitely has the weirdest courses Ive ever seen, with a bizarre mix of Basic, Difficult, and Expert charts. There are a handful of tricky songs in here, like Im For Real, Rhythm and Police, Electro Tuned, Matsuri Japan, and Candy. But for some reason, Max 300, the hardest song in the game, is not in here. Strange.
Ive AAAd True Trance Sunrise Mix BSP once in these attempts, but unfortunately not in this one. Electro Tuned is just an awful chart in general, especially with the one off-sync measure at the start. I actually almost choked so hard on the ending, so Im glad I still got it. Oh yeah, Darude Sandstorm.
