Tonight we commemorate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day by recreating Mission Albany, the airborne operation that carried the paratroopers of the US 101st Airborne Division into Normandy during the opening hours of Operation Overlord.
This vertical cockpit stream places you directly in the pilot's seat of the Douglas C-47 Skytrain as we retrace the route flown by the transport crews on the night of 5–6 June 1944. From engine start to shutdown, we'll experience the mission from the perspective of the men responsible for delivering thousands of airborne troops behind enemy lines before the first assault waves reached the beaches.
Throughout the flight we'll explore the planning, navigation, weather challenges, pathfinder operations, and the immense responsibility carried by the crews flying one of history's most important military missions.
