Plié Développé with Weights: The Full-Body Ballet Burn
Day 8 of my 12 Days of Ballet-Inspired Fitness! Today we're combining everything - lower body, upper body, balance, and coordination - into one powerful full-body movement.
What you'll need:
- Light hand weights (2-5 lbs recommended)
- OR water bottles, cans, or no weights to start
Key tips:
✓ Synchronize the movement: legs bend = arms lower, legs extend = arms lift
✓ Keep shoulders down when arms go overhead
✓ Control the développé—unfold the leg smoothly (knee up, then extend)
✓ Standing leg stays strong throughout
✓ Use light weights—this is HARD enough!
✓ Core engaged the entire time
✓ Breathe!
This is the ultimate full-body ballet exercise. You're working legs, arms, core, and balance all at once. By 30 seconds, you'll feel EVERYTHING burning. This is how dancers build total-body strength and coordination. 🔥
Which burns more—your legs or your shoulders? Let me know!
🩰 Follow for Day 9 tomorrow!
