Day 5 of Rocky Mountain Race Week 2026 and we can't even leave Pueblo Motorsports Park.
Locked in. Every racer, every car — actual prisoners at the track. Cars that needed to
come back for repairs? Locked out. After an hour and a half of gate humor, a roundabout
parade, and some serious waiting, we finally hit the road for one of the best drive days
of the entire week.
114 miles up into the Colorado Rockies — and the cooling system was NOT happy about it.
A roadside cool-down stop three-quarters of the way up later and we're pulling into one
of the most unique places you've never heard of: Bishops Castle.
World-famous, one-of-a-kind, and absolutely worth the climb. RMRW racers turn the place
into a burnout show. We climbed every sketchy staircase (zero OSHA compliance) all the
way to the top of the tower — yes, it sways. Worth every second.
From the castle we knock out the remaining checkpoints including a stop at a memorial,
fuel up on some great pizza, and roll back to PMP for an evening of racing. That's where
things get interesting — we go 1-and-done with a deliberate 21-second cruise pass, wave
to the crowd, and call it a day. Not what you expected? We had our reasons.
One more drive to Great Bend. Surviving RMRW one day at a time. 💪
