DaVinci Resolve Basic Color Correction For Nocturnal Animal Shoot.
Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera 4K G2.
The whole idea when shooting wildlife is to be able to render (no pun intended) a WYSIWYG motion, to be able to capture as close to, or better still exactly as the eyes see it footage in the first place. Using the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera 4k G2 we can do this, even in such super low light situations as shooting tree frogs in the wild.
We lit the tree frogs with nothing more than a LED flashlight (optimal-more on the channel on this subject of lighting-ok it's not that simple of course).
Basic camera/equipment settings: zero gain, 1/50th shutter, custom f2.8 lens setup, Manfrotto (the super 755B) and 501 video head.
So there is some basic color correction as in making sure those blacks are black. Here's one way to get it right.
