Dave Gahan has been supporting MusiCares (a foundation that supports musicians who have been in some form of crisis) for some years, and in 2007 he got invited to perform two songs in order to honour Chris Cornell.
In 2011, it was Dave Gahan's turn to be honoured. Not only did Steven Tyler of Aerosmith present the award to Dave, but Dave got to perform as well, playing some of his favourite old DM and non-DM songs.
