Hydra are tiny (about 3mm) freshwater invertebrates that catch and devour even smaller pond animals by grabbing them with their stinging tentacles. This one is budding off a daughter hydra on its side - they managed to snag a Daphnia, and while the mother hydra held it first, the daughter managed to steal it away (or perhaps the mother let her have it?)
