Vamanadeva (The Dwarf Avatara) appears among human beings of low stature. He defeats the demon Bali.

Vamana, in the guise of a short Brahmana, went to the demon to request three paces of land. Bali consented, and Vamana then revealed his identity and enlarged to gigantic proportions to stride over the three worlds. He stepped from heaven to earth with the first step, and from the Earth to the netherworld with the second. Bali offered his head for the third step. Vamana then placed his foot on Bali’s head and gave him immortality for his humility.

Parasurama (WIld Man Avatara) appears among humans of full stature who are uncivilized. Lord Shiva teaches him the martial arts, and he obliterates twenty-one generations of warriors single-handedly.

Parashurama is a Chiranjivi, meaning that he never changes his form. and is still performing austerities today in Mahendragiri.
