I have a fresh new whoop for 2021 racing. It has updated components and a new tune, but the real secret sauce is a new feature of Emuflight called "Dual-Axis Steering". It's specifically designed for angle mode racing, and it may just change the way I fly whoops! Build info and tune below...
Emuflight Tune:
Thanks to Patrick Clarke for early access to this Project Mockingbird tune (still a work-in-progress). Emuflight screenshots and CLI commands can be found in this document: bit.ly/2MkaJaj
Dual-Axis Steering:
DAS is set up in the CLI. The names of the commands have changed since the time I made my video. If you’re using an older build the commands are called “add_yaw_to_roll” and “add_roll_to_yaw” (as described in my video). If you are using a newer build then they have been renamed to “das_roll_with_yaw_input” and “das_yaw_with_roll_input” respectively. The setting “das_yaw_with_roll_input” means, “when you tilt the roll stick, also make the drone rotate about the yaw axis.” This feature can be set differently for different rate profiles. The recommended starting values are given below. Increase the “das_yaw_with_roll_input” value if you want to do more of the steering on the right stick. Full right-stick-only steering is hard to get used to, but I enjoy using a mix in the middle.
set das_yaw_with_roll_input = 30
set das_roll_with_yaw_input = 20
Drone Parts (If you use my affiliate links it helps me out. Thanks):
- Meteor65 frame (bit.ly/3bxloXt)
- BetaFPV F4 1S AIO FC + VTX (bit.ly/360DJtO)
- HappyModel EX0802 19,000KV unibell motors (bit.ly/3859ZhL)
- TinyWhoop Pinch camera (bit.ly/3pKhbGg)
- Gemfan 31mm 3-blade props with 1mm shaft (bit.ly/2HfPnFt)
- TPU camera mount (I think this is the one): bit.ly/2MvEYLJ
- PEEK M1.4 4mm motor screws (bit.ly/3n4ntP6) are unfortunately very expensive. I didn't realize just how expensive they were at first because they sent me some free samples. Normally I use RENY screws (bit.ly/2P0JOzT) which are half the cost and even that is pretty expensive unless you split it with friends. Minimum quantity = 100 pcs.
- 90 degree PH2.0, folded to create a 180 degree battery connector (bit.ly/2Jcu4Gj)
Race Gates:
- TinyWhoop Cube Gate: bit.ly/2KUcnPQ
- BetaFPV Mini Flag Pole: bit.ly/35bASil
60Hz flight footage recorded by ImmersionRC PowerPlay DVR:
- GetFPV: bit.ly/power-play-dvr
- Banggood: bit.ly/2NuJ7gt

Happy new year everyone!
