Memory Material organized with June Canedo de Souza
Darol Olu Kae’s INFINITE REHEARSAL is a set installation that reconstructs and reimagines the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra’s present-day rehearsal space. In collaboration with the Ark, Kae invokes the home garage as a fugitive space of preparation where musicians synthesize the notion of home as a poetics of making through the ritual of practice.
Watch the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra perform a live rehearsal as part of Darol Olu Kae's immersive installation, "Infinite Rehearsal". This work was featured in the program Memory–Material at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Memory–Material was an experimental archive of migration stories. In its subjective approach, the weeklong program called on multiple artists, together with their collaborators and communities, to adorn the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA with biographical material that will interpret individual, collective, global, and local experiences of migration.
