Chris (C.C) was undergoing operation when he flatlined and died. Clara (Mrs. Afton) was currently the only family member in the hospital because Michael and William were at the police station for question. (Elizabeth already died.)
The staff informs her that Chris is dead, but she doesn't believe them. She tries to wake him up, Michael and William arrive, she ends up having a breakdown because she already lost her daughter and she doesnt want to lose her youngest son.
Michael runs out of the room because he can't handle seeing his mother cry and because he feels guilty. He ends up having a mental breakdown as well.
