Anastacia of Astora, also known as the Ash Maiden, is the fire keeper of Firelink Shrine. She is mute and does not speak.
She will upgrade the Estus Flask if brought a Fire Keeper Soul. If Chosen Undead unlocks the murderous Knight Lautrec from his cell in the Undead Parish, he will transfer to Firelink Shrine and eventually slaughter Anastacia. She is unable to talk until avenged and brought back to life.
It is Chosen Undead's mission to invade the world of the guilty as a spirit of vengeance. Lautrec lurks in another world in Anor Londo after the slaying. Once Lautrec is confirmed deceased, Anastacia's soul can be brought back to Firelink Shrine to resurrect her. She will then very briefly speak with Chosen Undead.
