Many of the Exitium Original cast of characters are derived from the imaginations of others. Some of the more obvious entities that weren't initially dreamed up by me include; "Osiris" "Set" "Ptah" and "Thoth." But what you may not know is that I also adapt and perfect the concepts of others. (Most notably my closest friends.) This is one such character. A couple of years back I was confronted about merging my Exitium continuity with my friend Mark's. Because he wasn't dead set on a story or a real purpose for this character he simply settled upon contributing his childhood imagined character to my story. At first, I couldn't think of anywhere to slot him in, but as Mark described this character more and continued to show great passion for his involvement with my series, I started taking the possible notion more and more seriously. Now just for clarification purposes... I'm not uptight or stubborn about making additions to my stories in order to accommodate my friends, I just genuinely couldn't find a place for a character who seemed like a "Soul Caliber Nightmare" knock off inspired by some MMO characters you could potentially create in character editors.
Like Mantis-Man, I sought out to perfect this character. Not only storywise but also aesthetically. I wanted "Drake" to look and feel like he belonged in an Exitium storyline with the super powered peers he'd be subjected to. So here's our final rendition of this character;
"Drake Ashem" was a gifted young mage seeking to learn rift manipulation. He showed great promise and was taken under "Bephemoth's" wing. This was obviously the best thing for him because Bephemoth would soon become the strongest mage the world had ever seen. Drake appeared to have a bright future ahead of him. So bright that it attracted the attention of a fallen from grace god.
"Set" (Egyptian God of War & Chaos) betrayed Osiris by murdering him out of jealousy. He fled The Kingdom of Osiris fearing the wrath of his fellow peers. As a result he transferred to Earth with a physical body bringing with him only a small fraction of his enormous powers. So in order to regain his prowess that he once had within the kingdom, he sought out a "Harbinger" to harvest enough energy to channel to him. Set couldn't merely posses or corrupt anyone with his current limitations. It had to be someone naive enough to fall under his influence, yet also be someone powerful enough to smite enough foes for proper soul harvesting.
You see, Harbingers are great tools of the gods. They take a fraction of a god's power in the physical realm and do their bidding. The original purpose of the Harbingers was to destroy "Elder Anakim." Anakim are planet sized cosmic consumers which feed upon "Ra's" creations. A Harbinger's purpose is to breach an Anakim's insides and destroy it from within. If necessary, the Harbinger is instructed to self destruct inside the Anakim to ensure its demise. With a Dark Harbinger there is a similar sacrifice but a lot less noble. Rather than be crowned willingly by gods, Drake was abducted by Set corrupted and brainwashed. He mindlessly slays innocence and harvests their life force with the intention to give it all to Set all at once. (His life force included.) Meaning that he will give his life so Set may have a better one.
Drake Ashem debuts in the "Eight Accursed" storyline, which is the first of a 3 part series. Now one could assume that Drake WILL die regardless of rather or not he's killed by our storie's protagonists or Set's final plot realized. Either way, the story progresses and we are to gain one very important take away here.... Drake was the first ever to become a "Dark" Harbinger, & therefore this technique is sloppy and rookie. But because it was witnessed by man it was also replicated by man in brilliant fashion. In one event, Set gets a taste of his own medicine when a GROUP of Dark Harbinger's divide the energy among themselves in an effort to resurrect Osiris. Dark Harbinger Drake is a substantially important character to the Exitium franchise. His debut marks the beginning of a thickening plot. One where one door open only leads to several many more doors beyond. All evils are ramped up exponentially with every passing adversary defeated.
