Dark Cloud Deserves a Comeback
The original Dark Cloud combined action RPG combat, dungeon crawling, weapon upgrading, and town building in a way that felt completely unique at the time. Then Dark Cloud 2 expanded on nearly every idea, delivering one of the most memorable RPG experiences on the PS2.
The Georama system let players rebuild entire towns piece by piece. The combat was addictive. The world was charming. And the blend of exploration, progression, and creativity felt unlike anything else on the market.
After Dark Cloud 2, developer Level-5 moved on to other incredible RPGs like Rogue Galaxy, while the Dark Cloud franchise quietly disappeared.
No Dark Cloud 3.
No remake.
No remaster.
Nothing.
Which is surprising because many of Dark Cloud’s core ideas are more popular today than ever before.
So the question remains:
Will we ever see Dark Cloud return?
