Destiny may have been the perfect game at the perfect time.
Coming right after the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era—when shooters like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had already turned first-person shooters into the biggest genre in gaming—Bungie stepped away from Halo and created something completely different.
Launching early in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation, Destiny blended elite Bungie gunplay with RPG progression, loot, raids, PvP, Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, Nightfalls, and cooperative endgame content.
It didn’t just appeal to shooter fans—
