In today’s video I’m unboxing and walking through Shadow Seer Tarot: A Night Vision and Dark Archetype Deck by Maja D’Aoust, published by Destiny Books.
This is not your typical love and light tarot deck. Designed specifically for shadow work, Shadow Seer Tarot introduces the concept of “darchetypes”, the inverted or distorted expressions of traditional archetypes. Rather than glossing over discomfort, this deck leans into it, inviting us to confront the behaviours, patterns, and beliefs we often suppress or deny.
In this walkthrough, I explore the stark black and white “night vision” aesthetic, the powerful reimagining of the Major Arcana, and the confronting themes within the Minor Arcana, including cards such as Toxic Family, Addiction, Propaganda, and The False Martyr.
I also take a closer look at the substantial 256-page guidebook, which goes far beyond simple keywords.
