Thank you for taking part in Pages of the Sea - a nationwide gesture of remembrance created by Danny Boyle and 14-18 NOW.
On 11 November, thousands of people gathered on Folkestone's Sunny Sands to commemorate the men and women who left these shores during the First World War. Pages of the Sea invited people to gather on thirty- two beaches around the UK and marks the culmination of 14-18 NOW, the UK's arts programme for the First World War centenary.
The Creative Foundation were honoured to act as deliver partner on this project for Folkestone, creating a large-scale portrait of Wilfred Owen, designed by sand artists Sand In Your Eye, on Sunny Sands beach. As the tide came in, this image represented a poignant and emotive way of expressing our thanks and farewells, to the millions who gave their lives to the war.
