In this interview, we sit down with Dana Grieco as she discusses her research on coral reef social-ecological systems, her favorite spot on campus, and her teaching experience in Kino Bay, Mexico.
Dana Grieco is a Ph.D. candidate in Marine Science and Conservation at the Duke University Marine Lab and a von der Heyden Fellow 2024-2025 at the John Hope Franklin Center. Grieco studies how climate change impacts small-scale, data-poor coral reef fisheries, and identifies how conservation can be leveraged as a tool to mitigate these impacts. As an interdisciplinary scholar, she investigates reef fisheries by looking holistically at both the reef fish and dependent communities.
