Others have relayed control or video or both. This is the first control/video relay and FPV quad combination that uses only a single RC transmitter.
It's made possible with the 16 channel capabilities of the FrSky Taranis, new X-series receivers, and very flexible OpenTx programming. I chose "Daemon Relay" simply as a label for my relay/FPV combination controlled by only one RC transmitter.

Here's an explanation of what you see happening in this video. The Relay quad has a DJI Naza-M V2 controller and it is launched and flown first manually, then I switch to GPS position/altitude hold (the primary feature I'm interested in). From there, I flip a switch on the Tx which adds 20% throttle and reports the altitude from the onboard FrSky altimeter/vario every 10 seconds, while I still have full directional control. This part of the video is sped up, but there are no cuts in the HD or Live video view. What you see in the Live view box, is what I see.

I launch and pilot the Relay first LoS, then switch to the Relay's onboard camera so I can place it in a specific spot so that it'll be able to see down both sides of most of the saw tooth shaped rocks.
As soon as the Relay reaches desired altitude and position, I deactivate the climb switch (which can be used at any time to gain alt, even while flying the FPV quad), and flip the flight mode switch over to FPV quad. This has the side effect of putting the Relay into GPS position/altitude hold with throttle at center which causes it to simply park in place in the sky.

I switch to the relay's video feed coming from the FPV quad, and then launch and pilot the FPV quad normally for 7-8 minutes. Usually not long before the FPV flight is to end, I flip a switch to activate Failsafe/RTH/Auto-land sequence on the Relay. It starts flying home before the FPV quad lands (sometimes I wait and watch it land from the FPV quad).

If I need to get the relay down faster, or take over because auto-land is not happy with the wind, I can quickly land the FPV quad, disarm it, bring the throttle back up to center, switch flight mode back to Relay quad, disable Failsafe switch, enable Attitude mode, and Naza will give me back full control. From there I can pilot the Relay home either via LoS or the onboard camera.

There are two reasons for seeing static in the live view. If it's a burst of hard static, it's because I managed to put a big rock between the Relay and FPV quad. If the static comes in slowly and fades out slowly, it's usually because the FPV quad is passing directly below the Relay and they are in each other's antenna nulls. In both cases, if I keep moving, it clears up. Other than that, I can fly in places that would otherwise be impossible.

A full list of all the gear used is shown at the end of the vid.
