In 2022 my daughter and I tried for Half Dome, but I had not adequately prepared her for the hike and we ended up bailing half way. Three years later I climbed climbed it with the cables down and swore I was done with Half Dome forever. Then she said she wanted to try again and of course I said yes. So, we spent 6 months ramping up her hiking and backpacking experience to see if she was really serious. Turned out, she was! So despite a dangerous allergic reaction (oatmeal made with peanut powder - who knew???), an unannounced and early cable setup crew that cost us over an hour, and a clueless noob who created a traffic jam, we made it to the top and back!
