Only perfected in the late 19th Century thanks to the development of portable electrical lighting, cystoscopes are designed to be inserted through a patient's urethra to perform various diagnostic and surgical procedures in the bladder. This set of rigid cystoscopes was produced by the Electro Surgical Instruments Company of Rochester, New York, around 1909.
