Founded in 1932 in Rock Island, Illinois, Tru-Vue was among the first companies to restore public interest in stereography, which had declined since the 1920s. Using flexible filmstrips and later rectangular cards, Tru-Vue stereo viewers predated, competed with, and were later acquired and sold by Sawyer’s (manufacturer of the better-known Viewmaster), enjoying a large share of the stereoscope market for more than three decades.
