On the sixth episode of 'Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Districts EXPLAINED (under 3 minutes)'. I will talk about the true industrial (failing) heart of Night City, Santo Domingo. On the Arroyo district we have the remaining factories that are still operational and on Rancho Coronado we have the housing of the workforce of this district.

Bordering Westbrook to the north, Heywood and Pacifica to the west, and the inhospitable badlands to the east, Santo Domingo is one of Night City's oldest districts. Its unique location saved it from destruction during the Fourth Corporate War, and for the next couple of decades after the conflict it became a shelter for tens of thousands of refugees.
After the rebuilding efforts, most of them were relocated to the newer districts and Santo Domingo returned to its former function as the city’s industrial park and power plant.
Divided into two subdistricts, Arroyo and Rancho Coronado, Santo Domingo is subject to constant change. Many corporations are still buying and selling parcels of land for new investors and demolishing old factories to make room for new projects.
The Arroyo district is an endless construction site, but at the moment it consists of an old-fashioned nuclear power plant, robot factories, a logistics center and a gigantic junkyard. Not all of the many corporate investments have turned out to be profitable here. So a significant number of the buildings in this area remain unfinished. All the operational high-tech sites (including the Arasaka and Petrochem mega plants) are restricted areas with their own security forces. You don’t wanna get caught trespassing here, as they tend to shoot anyone on sight.
On the other hand all the abandoned buildings are controlled by the 6th Street gang.

Rancho Coronado looks like a self-sufficient town within Night City’s borders. The corporations who own the Arroyo factories planned and advertised it as a place for their workers to live out the real American dream. Rancho Coronado consists almost solely of identical small houses, reminiscent of the ones seen in the 2020s on most American suburbs. The district has its own bars, shopping, school, park and restaurants. Security is overseen by the 6th Street gang, as the NCPD is spread too thin to maintain overwatch on the suburbs.
The residents of Rancho Coronado are primarily mid and high ranking factory workers. There are even some corpos who were tired of Night City blinding lights and deafening noise living here.
Most residents work in Arroyo and don’t need to leave Santo Domingo for their entire lives. Even though it is a good place to live for Night City standards it is far from paradise. Still, people living here are among those lucky few who don’t have to worry about jobs, shelter or food.
For the next episode we will explore Pacifica, once a dream location for rich tourists now a razed and abandoned war-zone.
