CyberMage: Darklight Awakening by Origin is a game that unfortunately didn't enjoy nearly enough success. Released in 1995, it was the first 3D game I played in which you attack enemies together with NPCs and experience a relatively large number of scripted events and storytelling, years before Half-Life or Medal of Honor. It was also my first 3D game set in a cyberpunk world.
The game is set in a dark future, where megacorporations, street gangs and black-market technology rule the city. You play as a CyberMage – a rare hybrid of hacker and mystic, able to manipulate both advanced technology and arcane forces.
After being betrayed during a corporate operation and left for dead, you uncover a conspiracy involving secret experiments and the mysterious energy known as Darklight.
