I think the Schrade SCHF 42 and 42D represent an outstanding value for a hard use woods knife. The steel is good, the heat treat is excellent and the designs are rock solid and well executed. They are good to go right out of the box. I think where they really shine is in the ability to customize them. Schrade gives you a solid foundation to work with and companies like LMF Knives and C2GFab allow you to take these blades to the next level, providing custom performance at a budget friendly price.
