A piece of video art and a play on words.
I spotted this sign while walking around with my ‘Back to the Future’ camera*, and I immediately had the idea to make this. It’s like a late-80s/early 90s video art piece that you’d see on “Alive from Off Center” or something. The camera records onto VHS-C, but I dubbed it to a second VHS tape because I wanted it to look like a second generation copy.
The sound was made using “Drum Blaster”, an early 90s DOS program by “Epic MegaGames” (now known as just “Epic Games” because they decided they no longer want their games to be ‘mega’). I wanted the sound to feel only partially rhythmic.
*Actually the Zenith rebadged version, although I do have a proper JVC original one as well.
