VHS video footage taken at the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad in June 1996.
The first part of the video shows K36s and a K37 locomotive being prepared in Chama yard. A tourist evening train is then shown climbing the grade up to Cumbres hauled by K36 number 488.
The following day a freight charter took place hauled by K36 number 489, running to Osier before returning to Chama with K36 number 489 and 497 mid-train as a ‘helper’. The consist was filmed at various locations along this stretch of line including the climb to Cumbres, Tanglefoot Curve and Cascade Creek Trestle. Some on-board shots are also included.
