Earlier this month, ICA Miami's Culture Club presented a one-time improvisational art performance inside our newly acquired second building. "Ichi-Go Ichi-E" is a Japanese phrase that translates to, "treasure the moment as it may never come again," which was the inspiration behind the performance by dancer Michael Spencer Phillips and musician Phong Tran.
Throughout the evening we unveiled two important additions to the ICA Miami's collection: a sculpture by Leilah Babirye and a monumental painting by Dalton Gata, commissioned by ICA Miami from his 2021 show at the museum. Michael and Phong created an on-the-spot performance of dance and music inspired by the works.
