ICA Miami recently presented "Ahmed Morsi in New York: Elegy of the Sea," the first US solo institutional exhibition for the artist. On this occasion, we commissioned filmmaker collective Sandenwolff to create a video meditation on the artist, his paintings, and his poetry. Morsi was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, where he was deeply engaged in the city's inter-disciplinary avant-garde, before moving to the United States. In moving images and text, this video shares the artist's impressions of these cities, and his experience living in the diaspora.
