Here is a crystal radio earphone replacement that does not require a 3D printer. It's a converted old headset with a piezoelectric element that can be driven by a crystal radio.
In this first part we tackle the challenge of converting a set of broken or unused headphones into crystal earphones using simple tools. With a piezoelectric element, some clever mounting solutions (from PVC rings to caulking nozzles), and a bit of soldering, we walk step-by-step through how to repurpose everyday materials into a comfortable, long-wear headset for crystal radios. Along the way, we troubleshoot volume issues, experiment with sound focusing, and explore the benefits of larger vs. smaller piezo elements (27mm vs. 20mm). Whether you’re into DIY electronics, vintage radio restoration, or creative tech hacks, this build will help you craft a lightweight, durable, and ear-friendly headset perfect for long crystal radio listening sessions—no fancy tools required.
