A new Minnesota law aimed at protecting residents from sophisticated financial scams officially takes effect on August 1. Under this new legislation, all cryptocurrency kiosks must be turned offline immediately, with retail locations having until December 31 to physically remove them.
Local law enforcement, including the Rochester Police Department, say scammers have frequently manipulated victims into depositing thousands of dollars in cash into these machines, making the funds nearly impossible to recover.
