This is a funs take on the granny block stitch. All I have done is add an additional double crochet around the chain to make it 4 instead of 3. I love this version as it closes up the spaces even more and creates a slightly firmer fabric. It's great for baby blankets, scarfs, shawls and so much more!
I have used DK yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook but you can try this with other yarns and hooks to create your desired look and feel.
To begin cast on a chain in MULTIPLES OF 4 PLUS 2
