I'm reminding everyone of a critical annual prep: get your generators out and run them! I do this every fall because as our grid relies more on wind and solar, blackouts during extreme weather become more likely [01:18]. I show off my 12,000-watt dual-fuel generator and recommend always running it on propane to avoid carburetor issues with gasoline [00:47]. The key maintenance step is to not just start the engine, but to plug in a high-draw item, like a heat gun, to fully engage the electrical generator portion for several minutes and ensure it's producing power [03:39].
