Hello friends, thanks for visiting my channel today. I hope my layout inspires you!
In this video, I’m sharing a 6x8 pocket page layout that sports song lyrics as the title and sub-title. I find, more and more, that song titles and (or) lyrics fit the occasion I’m documenting better than anything I can come up with.
The key phrase that inspired my documenting was GOLDEN, which immediately led me to think of Golden Years, by David Bowie- and, in particular, the lyrics “Golden years (gold, wop wop wop).” Fun fact: the only reason I know this song is thanks to A Knights’ Tale. The soundtrack is an all time favourite of mine.
Because my key phrase is rather important in this layout, I decided to draw attention to it by using the pen function to draw the title using my Cricut. I used Cricut Sans, because it draws the outline of shapes in pen mode. Drawing my title allowed me to fill the letters in with a gold alcohol marker. I added shading to boost it even more. I just love how it captures my attention anytime I look at this layout. Mission accomplished!
The sub-title, which is the rest of the verse in Golden Years, was also drawn with my Cricut- but, instead of using Black like I did in the title, I used a brown pen. This was a good choice because it still technically falls in the gold/brown colour family. All the choices I made in this layout was deliberate- the colours either match or compliment the golden theme. Using muted colours elsewhere in my layout helped knock the title out of the park.
