In this video, I’ll create a hybrid pocket page scrapbook layout using minimal supplies: a few pens, cardstock, and patterned paper. Your printer (if you print photos at home) and your Cricut will do all the hard work for you!
I began with printing my photo at 6x8 inches. Then, I trimmed it half horizontally. I assembled the floral embellishments before I even began recording my video just so that the little pieces don’t walk off with the felines. It’s been known to happen. I used liquid glue to adhere all those bits + pieces.
Next, I glued the scallop cardstock circle to the two smaller, concentric circles. The floral pieces and the circles were cut with my explore 3; with the Draw function, I added journaling using my Explore 3 and dark brown Cricut pen. The journaling is grouped to the smallest circle (the journal mat) using Attach. The middle circle was cut from patterned paper (I’m crushing hard on this particular pattern recently).
Fun fact: the tiny floral pattern in the patterned paper circle inspired the floral clusters I cut with my Cricut. In the Image Library, I searched for flowers that looked similar to the pattern then used those to create clusters.
The smaller of the two clusters was adhered to the layout with a combination of foam adhesive + liquid glue- that was after the journal mat was glued to the photo and trimmed horizontally. The journal spot interacts with the bottom and top of both parts of the photo.
The larger embellishment was attached directly to the photo with liquid glue, then the title was attached overtop with foam squares + liquid glue.
The finishing touch is a couple drawn + cut heart images. The hearts were drawn with black ink, and attached using Offset. Once they were glued to the layout, I coloured them on using an alcohol marker.
