Rising over the Derbyshire hills, the camera drifts towards Crich Quarry, a vast amphitheatre of stone etched into the landscape. The limestone walls catch the changing light, their layers telling the story of ancient seas and millions of years of geology.
Slowly circling upwards, the quarry’s sheer scale is revealed – a dramatic scar carved by generations of industry.
Beyond its edge, the Crich Stand monument rising proudly on the hilltop a memorial to the The Sherwood Foresters (Nottingham and Derbyshire Regiment), and a beacon that has guided generations across the Peak District.
