In this video filmed at a New Code NLP Practitioner Course, Michael Carroll uses an abridged version of the ‘Betty Erickson Technique’ to elicit and test unconscious involuntary signals with two demo subjects.
The utility of on unconscious signal, which is verified as involuntary is to establish a connection with the unconscious mind, the signal is applied for multiple applications depending on the intention of the intervention.
Here are some distinctions highlighting the differences in Classic and New Code NLP
1/ The unconscious of the client is explicitly assigned the responsibility for the selection of the critical elements – the desired state, the resource, or new behaviours;
2/ The unconscious is explicitly involved in all critical steps;
3/ There are precise constraints placed upon the selection of new
Behaviour(s); more specifically, the new behaviour(s) must satisfy the original positive intention(s) of the behaviour(s) to be changed;
4/ The manipulation occurs at the level of state and intention (at the input level) as opposed at the level of behaviour at the output level
New Code NLP, co-created by John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St Clair, presents a radical extension to Classic NLP, where patterning applied in the context of coaching produces a deeper and more ecological change, in contrast to the behavioural output style change inherent in the original Classic Code Models.
