Crawling robot navigates tight spaces  @NorthwesternU

To design soft actuators, Northwestern engineers take inspiration from human muscles, which contract and stiffen simultaneously. Using the new soft, flexible actuator, the engineers developed a flexible crawling robot that can move backward and forward through tight, winding pipes.
