Craig Mullins is quite frankly a legend of the digital art world. Having first been introduced to Photoshop by one of its co-creators while working in the art department at ILM in the early 90’s it quickly became his medium of choice. During an era when concept art was still pencil drawings and markers, and digital art was in its infancy, Craig was doing something different and special that the industry hadn't seen before. He was creating fully realised inspirational paintings that could compete with the fine art world. After having studied product design at Art Center in Pasadena, he started his career in auto design. That ended up being short-lived as he returned to California to study Illustration to pursue a different career path. Craig found himself making contacts within the entertainment industry and eventually landed working on big projects like Forrest Gump, Armageddon, Halo 2, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein to name but a few. His contributions to some of the highest profile games and movies in the last nearly 30 years as well as his signature painterly style bring him admirers from the professional community and general public alike.
To present Mullins’s lifetime achievement award are the Co-Founders of Brainstorm School.
The Concept Art Association's 2021 Concept Art Awards ceremony, Presented by LightBox Expo - hosted this year by Aldis Hodge (Black Adam) and Krystina Arielle (Star Wars: The High Republic). The event is the first of its kind to recognize and bring increased awareness of the role of concept artists throughout the world of movies, television, video games, VR and more. The annual Concept Art Awards Show showcases and recognizes these behind-the-scenes individuals working in entertainment concept art.
