Seminar Title - Gene Environment Interactions in the Personalized Environment and Genes Study

February 27, 2025 - This talk explored how gene-environment interactions shape disease risk using data from the Personalized Environment and Genes Study (PEGS). PEGS integrates whole genome sequencing, epigenetics, and detailed environmental exposures — including GIS-linked data — to uncover complex disease mechanisms. We discuss challenges in detecting gene-environment interactions, methodological approaches, and recent findings on conditions such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and autoimmune disorders.

The NHGRI Center for Precision Health Research (CPHR) sponsors a monthly series of talks by intramural and special guest speakers on research relevant to the use of genomic data and large-scale electronic health record information to improve health. Speakers are selected by CPHR faculty and cover research topics of interest to a wide audience.
