"A Visit With Dr. Andrew Murray" - We all know as: "Andy Murray"
Andy Murray wrote and recorded the song Cowboy Dan and many other songs in the 1970s. Host, Brent Carlson, interviews Andy Murray Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies; Pastor, Singer, Song Writer, Husband, Father, Annual Conference Moderator Nominee.
When Andy was growing up, he wanted to be one of two things, a pastor or a railroad engineer. Fortunately, for the Brethren, the area of the steam engine vanished and so did Andy's desire to be an engineer. He feels, "I was probably headed in the direction of being a pastor, anyway."
Andy retired about 5 years ago after being a professor of Peace and Conflict Studies for 40 years at Juanita College, Huntingdon, P.A. Andy stated, "The focus was an academic study, to put it bluntly, "why do people organize to kill each other." It's a course which does not make any assumptions and involves the other departments of studies.
For Brethren, Andy is also known for being a pastor, singer and song writer, although he says he just made up the songs. Some favorites of the Brenthren include "Cowboy Dan" and "Summertime Children," which was the first theme song of a National Youth Conference, 40 years ago.
